Hunter 38-3 from 2006
Hunter developed the now incredibly popular Hunter 38 to be a stable, safe and spacious family sailor with a simple rig setup that can be operated by even less experienced sailors without much difficulty. The reason is the special three-point Bergstrom & Ridder rig, where the boat is mostly sailed on mainsail and a somewhat smaller jib. The backward pointing spreaders result in a rigg without a so-called aft stay.
The boat will cater for up to 6 people on longer holidays or even long journeys at sea. Both the cockpit, deck layout and the boat's interior layout are intended for simple operation and plenty of space for the crew as well as for storage of equipment, luggage and provisions.
The cockpit feels huge, and with the characteristic targa arc, the mainsail sheeting and ropes are not in the way. This boat even has an electric halyard for easy hoisting of the main sail.
This boat also has a folding wheel, which makes it very easy to move around in the cockpit when the boat is in port or at an anchorage, this particularly applies if you moor with the stern to, or if you are going for swim at the anchorage. In addition, there are two double GTI seats in the pushpit aft for a sundowner or to enjoy the sailing when the sails and autopilot are set.
Below decks, you really feel the space and the optimal décor. There is a large pantry with a double sink on the starboard side of the companionway, plenty of table space, a large fridge and a stove with oven, as well as plenty of storage space in cupboards and drawers.
On the port side, you will find the boat's toilet centrally located. There is also a shower area. Aft of this are two large cabins with locker space for 2 and a mighty double berth.
The main cabin is wide with a chart table to port board, in the extension of which there is a full-length sofa. On starboard a large U-shaped sofa arrangement. Also here with plenty of storage space under cushions and in cupboards.
In the bow you find this version's owner's cabin with a large v-berth in 2m length as well as lockers and storage compartments on each side.
This boat has the shallow wing keel of only 1.53 m. The boat can therefore enter almost anywhere, and should you want to start the trip by sailing through the canals to the Mediterranean, then this is no problem.
The engine is the large 39 HP Yanmar, which again provides security along the way.
The current owners bought the boat from the first owner in 2016 and have taken good care of the boat since then. Among other things, they have changed the refrigerator, new toilet, new folding propeller, new manifold on the motor, new batteries and much more.
The owner now goes ashore.
