Aphrodite 51 is a fantastic classic blue water cruising yacht built at Orust in Sweden. Very well maintained inside, extremely well equipped for long sailing and with many good upgrades in recent years (2019 - 2024): autopilot, plotter, radar, AIS, watermaker, Watt&Sea, Westerbeke generator, Victron charger, new table penetrations, refurbished engines, etc.

Aphrodite 51 is a fantastic, classic blue water cruising yacht built in Orust, Sweden, by Rex Marin. The model was taken over by Najad in the early 1990s and became Najad 51 and later Najad 511. The interior is really well made, and also very well maintained, with that little extra that characterizes rust-free buildings from the 90s. It is difficult to do the mahogany work justice with a descriptive text. You should simply come aboard to see and appreciate the fine craftsmanship. A good start is to carefully go through the photos taken by Båtagent, BoatAgent Sweden, in January 2024 on location in Nazaré, Portugal.

NOTE: I will be showing this boat in Nazaré, Portugal, April 28th and May 1st. Are you interested: Book an appointment with Niklas Forsén.

The construction of the Aphrodite 51 provides safe and comfortable sailing regardless of the weather and the size of the sea to be crossed. The boat is suitable both for blue water cruising and for holiday sailing if you are looking for a spacious, well-sailing and qualitatively very well-made and safe boat. Plenty of room for up to eight people in four cabins, of which the aft one is a real owners cabin.

The salon is pleasant and invites you to get together. On the port side after the descent stairs is the galley with benches on both sides which provide good space but also good clearance when cooking at sea. Aft, through the galley, you can reach a spacious owner's cabin with a good double berth, sitting areas, toilet with shower, desk/dressing table and nice windows built into the stern panel.
On the starboard side after the descent stairs; guest cabin with room for two people, because in this cabin there is a spacious and well-equipped navigation table. The salon itself consists of a spacious U-shaped sofa on the port side, a nice table and two armchairs. On the starboard side, another table and a smaller L-shaped sofa. Forward of the bulkhead: On the port side, guest cabin no. 2 with room for two people. On the starboard side: toilet and forward there is a nice forepeak also with room for two people.

The equipment list is extensive and is available as a pdf file to download. Most of the technology has been changed or renovated during the years 2019 – 2024. The boat has most of the equipment for long-distance sailing; watermakers – two different and separate systems, all navigation equipment, autopilot, satellite phone, heater and well-equipped galley. In terms of power supply, there is everything you could want: diesel generator, solar cells, Watt & Sea (water generator), lithium batteries and good chargers. On the security side there are; life raft for 8 people, Epirb, gas alarm, fire alarm, 4 fire extinguishers, emergency suits, 8 life jackets. In addition, a good rubber dinghy with a 9.9 hp spinner to hang in the rafters.
The underwater part of the hull has been sanded down and epoxy treated by Atlantic Marine in Nazaré in 2022.
The keel bolts were replaced in 2023 and in connection with that the diesel tanks were lifted out and cleaned.

With the current owner, the boat has been sailed from Sweden to Portugal and Nazaré. In 2022 to the Caribbean and back to Nazaré. The boat was originally sold to Italy and came to Sweden in 2016. The boat is registered in the Swedish ship register. VAT within the EU is paid on the new boat purchase in 1990.

During the month of April, the boat is busy at the shipyard in Nazaré for the replacement of the hull penetrations around the engine compartment and a total review of the three engines. Both the two main engines and the Westerbeke generator have been taken out and are being completely overhauled. The wooden details around the downspout are sanded and varnished. Work is expected to be completed at the end of April and the boat is expected to be seaworthy in May 2024.

The boat is sold by Swedish owners and is located in Nazaré, Portugal and is shown by Båtagent's (BoatAgent Sweden) broker on site by appointment. The nearest international airport is Lisbon. Another option is Porto.
